Improve capability and introduce a new compliance and monitoring system.
Current car seat regulations are based on age, while manufacturers and experts base them on the child’s size. Simplifying this double assessment is key for Educators to understand how to choose the correct seats.
Audience:
Majority of Ignite Minds Educators speak English as a second language, have varying levels of literacy and accessibility needs.
eLearning combined with in-person individual training, a group workshop and a bespoke car seat tracking and auditing online tool.
Results:
Improved capability: All Educators are now trained on how to choose and use car seats in accordance with regulations and best-practice.
Improved monitoring: The new system allows for closer tracking of car seats and audits.
Lowered risk profile: Working with third party experts for hands-on training and auditing reduces the instance of errors.

A four module course that explains the new car restraints company policy and system that teaches Educators how to choose the appropriate car restraint and install it correctly.
Here we introduce our first mnemonic device, the jingle or rhyme:
‘Child Size: Shoulder Height.
Seat Right: Safe and Tight’
Each online module contains:
-
Animated explainer: This is the main teaching vehicle as it offers the greatest impact with the least amount of friction for our diverse audience.
Animations are accompanied by a voice over and subtitles for accessibility. They are paced thoughtfully to keep engagement without being distracting or exhausting.
-
Supporting materials: Text and image diagrams that complement and summarize the video content.
-
Additional materials: Links to resources and official laws and regulations regarding Car Seat Safety and Road Safety in Victoria and Australia.
-
Assessment: Each module includes an interactive assessment that must be passed to complete the course.
Assessment questions are classified following Blooms Taxonomy.
Each Educator has 4 tries, if unsuccessful, a support ticket is created for a Coordinator to provide individual support. All interactions are recorded within the LMS.
Third-party audit
This session is carried-out by a third party certified car seat installer.
Educators must demonstrate that they can safely install and operate their car seats and that all car seats used are in good condition and meet Australian Standards.
Upon successful completion, the Educator’s restraints are entered into the system via the newly developed monitoring and tracking tool and only then they are able to use them as part of their service.
Group workshop
-
A key chain with the jingle written on as a tactile and visual cue.
- We invited an African drumming group to conduct a workshop. As part of their exercises we requested to turn the jingle into a simple song and dance to create a memorable and fun experience by including rhythm, music and muscle memory.
